The Pokemon Company today announced that their mobile figure battle game, Pokemon Duel will be ending its service on October 31st of this year. Developed by Heroz Japan and first released in 2016 in Japan, and January 24th, 2017 in America, and Europe, Pokemon Duel is a  battle game in which players collected figures of various Pokemon and then assembled teams to battle both other players and the AI. The game drew its gameplay and basic ruleset from the Pokemon Trading Figure game, which was released between 2006 and 2007 worldwide. The trading figure game was short-lived, however, having released a single starter set, and two expansion sets before quietly being terminated in 2009.

The message announcing the end of the game's life can be read in full below:

"Pokémon Duel game service will be terminated as of 10/31/2019 at 01:59 (UTC). For details on the end of service, please see the in-game Information. Thank you for your support. We realize that it's not long until the end of service, but we hope you'll continue to enjoy Pokémon Duel to the very end."
Players are no longer able to purchase diamonds, the title's in-game currency, but will still have the ability to request a refund on purchases until the game's closure.

Pokemon Duel is one of many Pokemon-themed mobile games released in the past several years, with the likes of Pokemon GO, Pokemon Quest, Pokemon Rumble Rush, and Pokemon Masters all appearing on phones, and the Nintendo Switch in several cases, worldwide. There seems to be no stopping Nintendo and Pokemon's expansion into the world of mobile titles, as the video game giant has announced that they will be working with Chinese company Tencent to release a brand new mobile title in the near future.
