Long-awaited action-adventure game The Last of Us Part 2 looks to be targeting a February 2020 release.

In a recent Between the Sheets interview, host Brian W. Foster asks The Last of Us voice actress Ashley Johnson when the sequel will be released. Johnson, who voices The Last of Us' Ellie, sounds like she's about to say "I think it's coming out in February" as she's interrupted by Foster. This moment occurs in Foster's interview at around the 1:07:20 mark. Check out the full interview here (Foster and Johnson are partners, so it's a pretty nice interview all-round):

A February release date would tally with a recent tweet from Kotaku's Jason Schreier. In the tweet, Schreier says that The Last of Us Part 2 was originally scheduled for a fall 2019 release but had been bumped back to February 2020. Schreier also correctly predicted in that tweet that Death Stranding would get a November release date. If that prediction was accurate, it's likely the TLoU one is too.

Meanwhile, over on ResetEra, industry analyst Daniel Ahmad (who tweets as @ZhugeEX) said that February 2020 was the "current internal date" for The Last of Us Part 2. That essentially means February 2020 is the date Naughty Dog is bandying about within the company. There's every chance the game could be delayed or this date could simply be wrong. Still, the evidence is piling up for a February 2020 release. It's safe to start getting excited about The Last of Us Part 2 now.

The Last of Us Part 2 is the upcoming sequel to 2013's The Last of Us. The sequel will be set five years after the first game and will see players taking control of Ellie as she encounters a mysterious cult in the post-apocalyptic USA. Troy Baker will reprise his role as the first game's protagonist Joel. Naughty Dog says that while the first The Last of Us was a game about love, the sequel will be "a story about hate". If these rumors are correct, the game will launch in February next year for PS4. In the meantime, you can take a trip down memory lane and find out what TechRaptor thought of the first one.
