For the most part all we’ve seen of Anthem is the gameplay. Seeing as it’s a looter shooter, this isn’t a huge surprise. However, Bioware showed up at The Game Awards 2018 to show off the first bits of Anthem‘s story.

The trailer involves a mysterious power known as the Anthem. We got to see characters and the societies they live in, all of which is under thread thanks to this Anthem. The narrator first is part of this society, talking about his fear of this power destroying it. As the trailer continues, the narrator instead switches to another character, who plans to use this power to destroy the societies. We then got to see some quick flashes of gameplay, and mysterious creatures killing many people.

The trailer then ended with a musical performance by The Game Award’s orchestra. It was super impressive and had nothing to do with the trailer itself, but I loved it so I had to mention it. What can I say, I’m a sucker for that kind of stuff.

Anthem will be available on February 22nd for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
