Tom Clancy's The Division has been out for a week now, and with the reviews (most of them positive according to review score aggregate Metacritic) trickling in, Ubisoft has finally released some concrete numbers on how the game has been doing since it became available in stores.

We already reported on Ubisoft saying that this has been their most successful launch ever, but a quick look at the released numbers on the official Ubisoft blog has led to the conclusion that it wasn't just Ubisoft's most successful launch, it also broke the record for biggest release of a new franchise ever. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot had this to say in the blog post:

The Division taking the top spot in the industry for first-week sales of a new franchise is a tremendous achievement. We are very proud of our teams, and humbled by and thankful for the millions of players who are giving us their feedback and support.
According to the estimates based on digital and physical sales The Division has made around 330 million dollars in its first five days. Ubisoft also released a few statistics on how many players have been playing the game during the past week. During the weekend, around 1.2 million players were shooting bad guys (or each other) concurrently and all players together have accrued over 100 million hours played. Vice-president of online services had this to say about the first week:
On top of record-breaking sales, player engagement is the highest ever for any Ubisoft title, demonstrating, among other things, that our investments in our online infrastructure and services are paying off.
In addition to this, the game has also been very popular on the Twitch streaming service. The Division was the number 1 streamed game on launch day, and has since been in the top 5 consistently since. The Division also managed to get over 57 million views on YouTube during its first week.

Tom Clancy's The Division is out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. We released our review for the game earlier today. If you want to read Wyatt's thoughts on it you can do so by clicking here.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
