Telltale Games has released the first trailer to Tales from the Borderlands, the episodic series that takes place in Gearbox’s Borderlands universe. The first episode, titled “Zero Sum”, introduces the lineup of characters that will more than likely dominate the story of the game.
According to the official Telltale Games blog players can expect the same sort of humor found in the Gearbox franchise. The goal for the protagonists of Tales from the Borderlands is to recoup a sizable chunk of cash stolen during a Hyperion trade deal by bandits. Both of the protagonists are competing for the money as the prize required to advance in their own ambitions.
“You’ll play as Rhys, a Hyperion ‘suit’ with dreams of being the next Handsome Jack, and Fiona, a Pandoran con artist looking to score her biggest ever swindle. Thrown together as unwilling partners in an adventure to recover cash they both think is theirs, their journey will take you on a wild ride where gangsters, bandit lords, and Vault Hunters are just some of the obstacles you’ll encounter, in this new take on the award-winning universe created by Gearbox Software.”
The cast of Tales from the Borderlands is a star-studded lineup with Troy Baker is voicing the ambitious Hyperion salaryman Rhys, Laura Bailey as the greedy Pandoran grifter Fiona and many more. Erin Yvette, a voice actor from The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead, returns as the character Sasha. Chad Hardwick, from the Nerdist Podcast, will voice the character Vaughn. Patrick Warburton voices the antagonist Vasquez, the successor of Handsome Jack. Noland North will also be appearing as the character August. This series should be quite the challenge for Telltale as the creative team is far more experienced at the bleakness of The Walking Dead and the drama of The Wolf Among Us. The first season of Tales from the Borderlands will be five delayed episodes. Enjoy the trailer below!
