If there's one thing that can be said for Machinegames, it's that the studio has proven itself capable of producing a single piece of DLC that arguably has more quality and value than most Season Passes contain throughout an entire year of additional content. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a testament to the potential of standalone expansions, and our review says as much. It's no surprise that Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will be receiving extra content as well with a season pass titled The Freedom Chronicles. However, the manner in which it's being delivered is markedly different this time around.

Instead of being a standalone package, The Freedom Chronicles consists of three DLC packs that appear to be add-ons rather than separate from the main title. These three packs cover the stories of other famous warriors across the United States that engage the Nazis on their own terms, starting with Joseph Stallion in The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe, which will apparently take players to outer space like in Wolfenstein: The New Order's Lunar Base level. The second pack is called The Diaries of Agent Silent Death, which will have players assuming the role of ex-OSS agent (likely an offshoot of the OSA as seen in The Old Blood) Jessica Valiant to uncover Operation San Andreas. The last of these packs is titled The Amazing Deeds of Captain Wilkins, which involves a US Army captain to stop Operation Black Sun. From Chicago to outer space to California to Alaska, you'll be traveling across (and above) the land of the free and home of the brave.

The season pass is automatically included with the Digital Deluxe Edition of Wolfenstein II, but players will also be able to purchase it separately for $24.99 (US), $34.95 (AUS), or £17.99 (UK). More information will be released later on to reveal what will make these new experiences outside of the main game. In addition, those who have the season pass or simply pre-order the game will have access to The Freedom Chronicles: Episode Zero. It introduces players to each of the aforementioned characters, but whether they will all be united or separated is unknown.

For those who haven't had the fortune of experiencing Wolfenstein: The New Order or The Old Blood, the perfect point to jump on is with the upcoming Wolfenstein: The Two-Pack on August 22 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will be selling for $29.99 in the US and Canada, and you'll also be able to take advantage of a $10 mail-in rebate (the only exception of not being able to use this applies to residents of Quebec). There are no details about whether this bundle will be coming outside North America.

I have a lot of faith in Machinegames to do players right by its DLC, but do you think more DLC packs could spell trouble in terms of depth and longevity compared to The Old Blood? What do you hope these missions will explore with their stories, characters, and gameplay? Prepare for the revolution in the comments section to let us know.
