Earlier this week we reported on the possibility of a new Saint's Row game being announced at PAX, and today it seems that Volition will indeed be bringing us another story from the Third Street Saint's - and one that is self-described as being their "hottest" adventure yet.

Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell is the next adventure that players will be experiencing in the franchise, and is a milestone for the series in a variety of ways. It is the first Standalone Expansion to Saints Row IV, as well as the first Saints Row game that will be coming to current-gen consoles, the PS4 and Xbox One.

The announcement trailer gives a taste of what the expansion will be about; and in typical Saints Row fashion, the story behind Gat's trip to hell is anything but ordinary. To make a long story short; Satan wants his daughter Jezebel to marry the Boss, and takes control of an Ouija Board before sending him to hell in front of the rest of the Saints. Various demonic powers and weapons ensue as the rest of the gang go after him, and certain historical figures will be featured prominently within the story as well.

Being a Standalone Expansion, you will not need to own Saints Row IV to play Gat Out of Hell once it launches in January of next year. Although the game is set to be smaller then any other Saints Row game to date, Volition pledges plenty of content for the price; the games version of Hell is supposedly half the size of Steelport from the two previous games, which retailed at $59.99 on launch - while this expansion will retail for a little under $20.

Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell is set to launch January 27 of next year on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
