Amplitude Studios co-founder Mathieu Girard has launched a new studio called Tactical Adventures according to a press release.

Tactical Adventures primary mission will be to bring the look & feel of a tabletop role-playing game to your computer screen. There are plenty of programs that attempt to do this, either through giving players a tabletop sandbox or attempting to represent the gameplay in an accurate fashion. Mr. Girard's aim, however, will be leaning more towards the "game" side of the equation.

Mr. Girard certainly has experience with making immersive games. His time at Amplitude Studios saw the release of a number of games in the Endless series. Endless SpaceEndless Legend, and Dungeon of the Endless are all fine titles that get pretty deep into their respective genres - we certainly enjoyed Endless Space 2. It is Mr. Girard's hope that he can translate that experience and a passion for tabletop gaming into his new venture Tactical Adventures.

Tactical Adventures' first project is aiming to be a tactical role-playing game. Taking inspiration from titles like Baldur's Gate and XCOM, their unnamed venture will be making use of the fifth edition rules for Dungeons & Dragons. Community involvement will be critical for the success of such a project and Tactical Adventures will definitely be seeking it out.

The company was created in Paris in July of 2018, but this is the first time that they feel comfortable announcing their plans to work on a game. They're also seeking to add to their team - Tactical Adventures is in need of a Lead Technical Artist, Lead Animator, Senior 2D Artist, and Community Developer. You can apply to one of these positions and read more about their company by heading over to their official website. Bear in mind that they seem to be sorting out some DNS issues, so for now you'll have to use the site's IP address.

What do you think of Tactical Adventures? Does the idea of a computer role-playing game based on fifth edition Dungeons & Dragons rules appeal to you or would you prefer that they make use of a different system? Let us know in the comments below!
