Industry veterans have come together to form a new game studio called Fall Damage. The new Swedish game company is based in Stockholm with a small team of seven people. Fall Damage is focused on creating games with the player in mind in a cooperative and positive work environment.

Backing the studio are four former DICE employees with the help of Goodbye Kansas Game Invest and the previous Swedish Games Industry CEO.  Together Fall Damage hopes that new and established game creators can come together to make great games. Formerly of DICE, Markus Nyström, Anders Gyllenberg, Mikael Kalms and Dan Vaderlind are the co-founders of the company and have worked on AAA titles like Star Wars: Battlefront and Battlefield.

We want everyone at our studio to be involved in the games we create, it’s not until then we get the opportunity to channel all of our passion into our creations. The player experience matters the most to us. Not the hardware, platform or cutting edge tech, says Markus Nyström, Creative Director at Fall Damage
Former Swedish Games Industry CEO Maria Tjärnlund is Fall Damage’s chairman of the board. Goodbye Kansas Game Invest has become the largest minority owner of the new studio. The investor is part of VFX & Games group Goodbye Kansas Entertainment.

The group’s Ceo Peter Levin had this to say about getting involved with the new company,

Goodbye Kansas Game Invest is constantly looking for new partners and Fall Damage is without a doubt one of the most exciting newcomers in the Swedish games industry. We are looking forward to supporting them and together be able to create something that will further strengthen Sweden’s already impressive position as one of the world’s leading game development hubs.
While the brand new indie game studio only has seven people on board currently they are looking to double their roster by the end of the year. They are currently looking for a game programmer with experience in UX development and an FX artist that likes 3D modeling. Their first project will be built in Unity.
