Sweatshop

Sweatshop is an incremental game published by Sometimes You where you build your own clothing manufacturing company from the ground up. It will be releasing on Steam on July 22 according to a press release from the publisher. Here's the trailer for the game's Greenlight campaign:

The basic idea of Sweatshop is that you've opened up a clothing manufacturing company. You'll gradually expand your business by hiring more workers and purchasing new equipment for them. Your operations will snowball and continue to grow from there.

The game is an incremental "clicker game" similar to Cookie Clicker or AdVenture Capitalist through and through; it seems to feature the constant sort of exponential expansion that you would expect from a game of that type. The game will include 53 Steam achievements.

Sweatshop

Sweatshop is being developed by DUCK and is his first commercial game as far as I can tell. The publisher Sometimes You appears to have a specialization in low-priced indie games as evidenced by their publisher page on Steam. Most of their games are priced somewhere between $0.99 and $2.99 with the sole exception of Cyber City 2157: The Visual Novel at $5.99. Despite the low price, the majority of the publisher's games have positive ratings.  Sweatshop will be available on Steam for $0.99 or your regional equivalent on July 22.

Quick Take

I've had a good bit of fun with clicker-style games like AdVenture Capitalist, Cookie Clicker, and countless similar titles on NewGrounds and other sites. I think it would take a lot to get me to put money into a game with such a simple concept. That said, 99 cents doesn't seem all that bad a price for this kind of game if it's the sort of the thing you're into.

How does Sweatshop look to you? Does it seem like an interesting clicker game? What's your favorite kind of clicker game? Let us know in the comments below!
