SUPERHOT is a game that combines first person shooters with strategy and puzzle elements. Time is greatly slowed when you're not moving and affords you the ability to step out of the way of bullets and other threats.

The launch post for the game detailed all of the many game modes that are shipping with the release version of the game including Story Mode, Endless Mode, and Challenge Mode. Buried towards the end of the post was a statement that the developers have "grand plans" for VR. Furthermore, the FAQ on the official website states that SUPERHOT Team is working on something "larger than we originally thought possible" in terms of VR support.

In addition to plans for a VR support, an XBox One version of the game as well as free content updates are being worked on by SUPERHOT Team.

SUPERHOT exceeded its Kickstarter goal of $100,000 by raising over $250,000 by the close of the campaign. The game was developed and published by SUPERHOT Team and was reviewed by TechRaptor.

Quick Take

SUPERHOT expanded a game jam concept into a really well-executed title. Movement through 3-D space is arguably one of the most important things in the game considering that you have to dodge bullets before they hit you. One of the weaknesses of a flat screen is difficulty in determining depth perception and VR is the solution to that problem. It remains to be seen if and how the game will be changed for a VR experience, but it will still be pretty cool to move around bullets in slow-motion with a VR headset on.
