Super Robot Wars Steam and Nintendo Switch releases are on the way for two of the games in this blockbuster anime crossover franchise. Super Robot Wars X and Super Robot Wars V (both originally released on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita) will be making its way to Nintendo's hybrid handheld console and Valve's digital distribution service.

If you're unfamiliar with Super Robot Wars, well... that's totally understandable. It's a bit of a niche fighting game, even in the more hardcore parts of the community. Essentially, damn near every mecha anime under the sun has made an appearance in a game in this franchise. Ever wanted to see Heero Yuy from Gundam Wing battle it out with Sagara Sousuke from Full Metal Panic! in an intense battle? Well, then this is the game for you!

DualShockers reports that the announcement of the port was made via the game's official Twitter account:

Both of these games feature mecha (and their pilots) from several Gundam series and that's roughly where the similarities end. Super Robot Wars X includes units from Aura Battler DubineTengen Toppa Gurren LagaanNadia: The Secret of Blue Water, and several other franchises. Super Robot Wars V, meanwhile, has units from EvangelionFull Metal Panic!, Martian Successor Nadesico, and many other classic anime.

Early previews in Japanese media mainly focus on Super Robot Wars V, so it's likely that we'll be getting our hands on that one first with Super Robot Wars X to follow later. No price or date has been announced for the Super Robot Wars Steam and Nintendo Switch release date. Keep your eyes open for some upcoming fast-paced anime action battles!

What do you think of the Super Robot Wars Steam and Nintendo Switch release? Are you excited to play Super Robot Wars X and Super Robot Wars V on your PC or do you prefer to play these kinds of games on consoles? Let us know in the comments below!
