Super Meat Boy, the devilishly challenging platformer by Team Meat, has recently been released on Nintendo Switch and it apparently did quite well in sales according to the developer's Twitter.
If you're a fan of platformers with little room for error, Super Meat Boy has got to be considered one of the modern classics by now. The titular Meat Boy is out to rescue his girlfriend Bandage Girl from the terrible Dr. Fetus and he must navigate countless perils seeking to turn him into ground beef. It's quite a good bit of fun and Nintendo Switch players seem to have embraced the game wholeheartedly - Super Meat Boy's day one sales on the Switch almost matched up to the day one Xbox 360 sales when the game originally launched back in 2010. Now that's some staying power. The developers kicked off the Switch launch with a tongue-in-cheek shopping channel trailer, selling the game as if it were a bit of kitsch on late-night television:
Team Meat is currently working on Super Meat Boy Forever, a sequel with a name that they feel is "less boring that Super Meat Boy 2." The sequel was announced in September of last year as one of the many upcoming indie titles for the Switch and is expected to release sometime in 2018 for Nintendo's console alongside a whole bunch of other platforms. (Heck, you can probably get it on your smart fridge in a few years.)
Indie games have generally done well on the Switch, with some developers reporting that they've sold more copies of their game than on any other platforms. 9 indie games are currently on sale for the platform until January 15, 2018. If you'd like to grab Super Meat Boy for the Nintendo Switch, you can get it via Nintendo for $14.99 or your regional equivalent. You can also get it on Steam for the PC. Team Meat will assuredly invest the money wisely by buying Notch's house.
