In September we got our first look at Super Mario Run, a new officially licensed Super Mario endless runner that would be coming to the iPhone and iPad in December. Today it was announced via the official Super Mario Run website that the game will be hitting the iOS app store on the 15th of December worldwide.

When the app launches it will be completely free allowing players to try each of the game's three modes but if you want full access to everything the game has to offer then you can pay a one-time fee of $9.99. The three modes that are included in Super Mario Run are World Tour, where you play different courses and collect as many coins as you can before you lose, Toad Rally, where you challenge other players ghosts and try to beat a course with style to impress more toads, and Kingdom Builder, where you can spend those hard earned coins to create your own kingdom.

Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America's Senior Vice President of Sale and Marketing had the following to say about the upcoming title:

The wait is almost over for a Super Mario game that can be played on mobile devices, developed under the direction of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Super Mario Run brings a new take on the series’ beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time.
Super Mario Run will be playable on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch's that are running iOS 8.0 or later and will support English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portugese, Italian, Dutch, Russian, and traditional Chinese when it launches in 151 countries and regions. If you wish to learn more about the game or sign up for a release notification then you can do so via the Super Mario Run official website. It is the second game created by the partnership of Nintendo and DeNA.

What do you think of Super Mario coming to iOS devices? Are you excited for this game or were you hoping for something other than an endless runner for Mario's first mobile outing?
