During Nintendo's Super Mario Maker 2 Direct, the company showcased a new way to save money on digital titles.

The Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are sold in pairs for $99.99. This gives consumers with an active Nintendo Switch Online account the ability to purchase two digital Nintendo titles on the eShop.

These apply to only select titles. It appears that select Nintendo games such as Super Mario Maker 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and more are eligible for this offer. Because these games typically cost $60 a piece, players end up saving a total of $19.99.

You can find a full list of eligible titles here. Prices for these titles range from $49.99 to $59.99, so purchasers will get their money's worth no matter what title they purchase. Most titles are first-party with a few third-party titles such as Octopath Traveler thrown into the mix as well.

This means that you can pre-purchase games with these vouchers. As shown in the Nintendo Direct, Super Mario Maker 2 is eligible. If you do end up buying a pair of vouchers, they are valid for an entire year and are not required to be used at the same time.

Quick Thoughts

This is a good deal that Nintendo is doing. I don't see myself using this in the future, but it's a good way for new purchasers of the Switch to get a couple games they want for a lower price. $19.99 is a decent amount of savings, but since I already own a Switch I don't see myself dropping $100. It's a nice little option to have though, and Nintendo doesn't put stuff on sale a lot, so you might as well save a few bucks this way.
