The Subnautica Below Zero release date has been announced and it's not too far away. This upcoming game from Unknown Worlds Entertainment seeks to continue the story of Subnautica in an entirely different location with a brand-new character. This expandalone title was first revealed in August of last year.
Below Zero will make for a slightly different situation as compared to the first game in the series. (You can read our review of Subnautica to see what that game is all about.) While the previous game had you crash landing on Planet 4546B, this time your character in this game has been sent here on purpose in order to study some of the more interesting technology on the planet. There appears to be a greater deal of land involved in this game, although I'm sure you'll be spending plenty of time underwater. It is, after all, called Subnautica.
The Subnautica Below Zero release date has been confirmed by the developers as January 30, 2019. Much like the previous game, Below Zero will be launching in Steam Early Access. This means that there will likely be bugs and incomplete content as the dev team gets to work on finishing up the game. Primarily, the developers are hoping to get a good amount of feedback from the community on what they'd like to see in the game.
A special Early Access Livestream will kick off on launch day; you can pop over to this page to be reminded of when it launches. A trailer for the game will also debut on the same day. Aside from Steam, the Subnautica Below Zero release date also includes the Epic Games Store and Discord store.
Subnautica made for a pretty intriguing experience and it will be interesting to see if Unknown Worlds Entertainment can manage to do it again. You'll be able to get your hands on the Early Access version of Subnautica Below Zero on January 30, 2019.
