The most recent Street Fighter V post launch release update details current and future plans for penalizing what they term 'Rage Quitters'. With the release of Street Fighter V including no punishment for players who quit ranked matches before they are over, the online ranked matches have seen a number of players quitting in order to ensure they don't lose league points or their current ranking.

The community unanimously complained about this to Capcom who have now decided to take action by docking points over users who have a disproportionately high number of match disconnects. Capcom claims that this penalty is only targeting the 'worst offenders', referring to users that typically have a 80-90% disconnect  rate. Whether this is exclusive to ranked matches is not specified. Capcom has already penalized roughly 30 players by docking a number of their League Points, the amount is unknown. A permanent solution to penalizing rage quitters will be added but with no ETA as of now.

Whilst Capcom's attempt to address this issue is welcome as many fans have been requesting a method of punishing rage quitters, there is nothing clearly communicating Capcom's rules on this this in the Street Fighter V EULA. Whilst there should be measures in place for players who rage quit to be punished, it was not detailed in the user agreement that rage quitting would see any loss of league points or as a result, ranking placements nor that it is against any of their online code of conduct in any way. While many other areas are covered, rage quitting can only be filed under the general terms, and nowhere do they make explicit mention of tying ranking to breaking of expectation of users.

The current fixes detailed by Capcom include resolved isuues involving certain player profile names not appearing when searched and disconnection issues with the battle lounge feature. Further issues with the rival search and player profile features are being worked on. No further details were given on the update supposedly coming this month, although further news on upcoming game modes, bug fixes and first DLC character Alex will be coming this week.
