Street Fighter V is getting an Arcade Edition upgrade. Revealed on PlayStation.Blog, the patch will release worldwide on January 16th, 2018. It will be free for all current players.

Arcade Edition will come with all 28 characters from season 1 and 2 alongside a new unannounced character. All characters will receive a second V-Trigger to choose from at the beginning of the match. Of course, an Arcade Mode will also be included, but few details are revealed on that.

Since it's the series 30th-anniversary, Capcom wants to make this an extra special update:

Arcade Mode will be present, but this isn’t your cookie cutter version. Being the #1 requested addition to Street Fighter V, we’re making sure it’ll be an experience rather than just a mode. As it’s our 30th anniversary year, we wanted to add even more to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition! Extra Battle Mode, V-Trigger moves, Gallery, and a UI design overhaul are among the features we can’t wait to show you in the future. There’s a lot of information to share with each of these new additions, so keep an eye out as we approach January.
Those who don't own Street Fighter V will be able to purchase Arcade Edition for $39.99 after release - keeping to Capcom's word that SFV will only have one version.

This is excellent news for fans of Street Fighter V. When the title launched in February of last year, it was panned for having half of its content "available soon." Since then, Capcom has slowly released updates and made the game into the full package it was intended to be.

Arcade Edition will not be the last update either. Capcom has stated they want to support the game until at least 2020. As long as the content continues to be substantial, Street Fighter V's turnaround will continue.

What do you think of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition? Do you think that releasing a free patch with all the content keeps to Capcom's promise of only one edition? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
