The headbangin' procedural space shooter Steredenn is a heck of a good time. Readers of Coverage Club already know this, but it's worth repeating. Especial since developer Pixelnest Studio has released a massive expansion for free on Steam. Dubbed Binary Starsthis free upgrade adds in two-player co-op, a boss rush mode, a choice in ships to fly, and much more.

Of course, since Steredenn is a roguelike, the update includes a ton of new content to discover in your runs. There are new weapons, new background tunes, and new enemies to shoot down. Even if you've already beaten the game over and over, there will be new challenges to face and a quartet of new ships to conquer them in.

Each ship has a special ability which adds a new button to the game's control scheme. The original ship, now dubbed the Tempest, has a melee force push that gives you additional firepower. You can get a sneak peek at some of the other abilities in the Binary Stars launch trailer.

Binary Stars adds a roguelite progressions system that lets you unlock some of these additions. This is where some of the new playable ships come into play, as well as even more exotic weapons. Considering that there are already giant drills and flamethrowers in space, that can be nothing but a good thing.

If PC isn't your thing, that's cool too. Binary Stars brings in all the content that is already present in the Nintendo Switch version of the game. The expansion is on its way soon to Xbox One, PS4, and mobile platforms. You really don't have any excuse to check out this radical shoot 'em up if you're a fan of arcade madness.
