SteamWorld Heist is a turn based strategy game that was released at the very end of 2015 for the Nintendo 3DS. A distant sequel to SteamWorld Dig, and third entry in the SteamWorld series, the game has gotten rather good reviews and is generally well liked. As of today there's now DLC for it too.

The Outsider is the first DLC pack for SteamWorld Heist and it launches today for the low price of $4.99. The biggest addition is Fen, a new squad-mate that can be recruited. Fen is interesting because he's a Vectron that has broken free of the hive mind. Notably Fen can restore his health by killing enemies, giving him an neat advantage. While Fen is the biggest addition, there is more that The Outsider brings. New missions tell Fen's history, new weapons give you some neat tools to play with, new types of enemies, a new end boss, and new hats. The DLC does not have a specific section anywhere for it, rather it'll all blend in with the main campaign like it was part of it to begin with.

The Outsider

While the new content will mostly be for people who purchase The Outsider, there's also a free update coming to SteamWorld Heist today. New languages will be added, letting the characters talk in French, Italian, German, Spanish or Russian. The inventory size is also being increased, with the amount of starting slots going up while purchasing new slots will be cheaper. Finally, they're adding new utilities and new hats for free as well.
