It’s now day two of the Steam Summer Sale, but always be guard, even when you’re being offered what seems to be sweet and enticing deals. Because there may be more then meets the eye to those deals in question due to unfortunate business practices. Luckily, most of the sales in question don’t seem to be affected by these practices, at least for the daily deals and the flash sales, but the same as the first set of sales applies. Be diligent and don’t buy a game without following the handy flowchart as pictured below. Now again, you have refunds now and it is a non-abuse reason to refund a game and pick it up at a lower price, so now you have at least a way out if you do make a mistake. Anyway, let’s get to the sales.

Literally, this should be posted on the front page of steam from now on.

Literally, this should be posted on the front page of steam from now on.

First of all, let’s look at the daily deals:

  • This War of Mine – 50% off – I’m really a fan of this one as I pointed out in a review last year, but it’s also added scenarios to the mix, and a lot of their DLC/extras go to charity. It’s really a different experience, and is a highly recommended game from me. We’ve also got an interview with 11 bit studios as well.
  • The Witcher Franchise Games – 10-85% off – Well considering that it is the Witcher 3 and has a 10/10 from us and has hit record sales, even a 10% discount is nice to see at this point. But the two first games in the franchise are reasonable as well, and may be a good time for those who’ve picked up the 3rd game to go back and take a look at how the story started. Now note, GOG has the same sale price going on as well, and some countries seem to have a lower price on GOG for some reason (Canada), so you may want to take a look over there. In fact, GOG is having their own set of sales that you may want to take a look at.
  • Depth – 60% off – An interesting take on the asymmetrical action genre, with it being sharks against divers. I’ve seen a lot of good videos and people enjoying the game, and I’ll probably pick this up myself. My poor wallet.
  • Child of Light – 75% off – An actual good Ubisoft game from 2014. Wanna know more? This review will give you what you need.
  • Wasteland 2 – 50% off – A kickstarter success, who knew? As Don Parsons, our news editor said, ” While it may be possible to charge straight ahead, taking your time to set things up will often pay off “. We’ve got a review if you’re looking for more info.
  • Grey Goo – 60% off – Heard a lot of good things about this RTS,  in particular with the blob like race being a little bit different in its gameplay mechanics. May pick this one up myself, despite me not being the greatest fan of the genre. It’s the first time the game has been on sale, so there’s that going for it as well.
  • Mount & Blade: Warband – 80% off – Yet another game that I’ve heard a lot of good things about and will probably pick up. Overwhelmingly positive on Steam, several of my close Steam friends play the franchise all the time. Actually questioning why I’ve never tried it. It’s also got a pretty big modding scene as well, which can add a bunch of content.
  • Assorted Hitman Games – 80% off – Ok, I’m not a fan of the franchise and will be the first to admit that. But if you like stealth based games with a little bit of creativity thrown in, this may be up your alley.
  • Assorted Lego Franchise Games – 25-75% off – A good set of games if you really just want to sit back and just destress. Surprisingly addictive at times. The 25% one includes the recently released LEGO Jurassic World as well. I’ve even got a trailer for it!
  • Democracy 3 75% offAn in-depth political simulator where you can be assassinated. My life long dream. Lots of recommendations from Steam Curation on this, may be worth a look. Especially with the extra DLC you can pick up for it, and having a modding scene on top of that.
  • Starbound33% off – In early Access. SciFi meets Terraria. Honestly, I’d wait until it came out of early access as the price drop isn’t enough reason to get it at this point.
  • The Forest – 33% off – Open world survival game in Early Access. it may be better then I’m giving it credit for, but the sound of the genre immediately turns me off. Do your research, but I don’t think the price drop for an EA game of this level is worth it.
  • Portal 2 – 75% off – If you don’t have Portal 2 by now, you’ll probably never have it. So yeah.
  • NBA 2K15 – 75% off – I don’t play a lot of sport games in the video game format. I’ve heard decent things about this port? So, I guess if you really want to?
  • The Wolfenstein Franchise – 40-75% off – It should be noted that the price of the base Wolfenstein: The New Order has rose from before the sale started (as seen here), however both games are at historical lows on Steam in terms of price.
