Valve has announced that the Steam Link App and Steam Video App will be coming to mobile devices to expand the platform's offerings according to a news post on the digital distribution services website.

At the moment, the Steam Mobile App provides gamers with several features on the go. Two of the biggest features are trade and market confirmations and the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator, both of which help to secure your account from malicious third parties. The app can also be used to purchase games, chat with friends, and remotely install games to your home PC among a host of other features. This app will soon be joined by two new ones: the Steam Link App and the Steam Video App.

The Steam Link App will let gamers experience their games on Android or iOS-based devices provided that you have a 5 GHz wireless connection or a hardwire ethernet connection. Android access will initially be offered in a beta state. The app will feature support for the Steam Controller, MFI controllers, and more on both the iOS and Android platforms. The Steam Link app is set to launch on May 21, 2018.

As for the Steam Video App, it will be arriving sometime later this summer. This app will solely be focused on allowing Steam users to watch and enjoy the thousands of individual shows and movies that are currently available on the platform through a wireless or LGE connection. Thanks to customer feedback, this app will function in both wireless and offline modes.

Valve seems keen on expanding their platform's offerings to those on the go, and these two new apps are sure to help increase their capabilities in this regard. The Steam Link App will be available for Android & iOS on May 21, 2018, and the Steam Video App will be arriving sometime later this summer.
