Indie farming RPG Staxel will be coming out with a Halloween Update and it's now available for purchase on GOG according to a blog post on the game's official website.

Staxel is a game firmly in the farming RPG genre with just a touch of Minecraft. Fans of Stardew Valley and similar games will find something to love in this title; our preview particularly praised the incredible amount of freedom players have (including the ability to rebuild the entire town however they like.) The most recent major patch was the Friendship Update which added a friendship system into the game and made it possible for an NPC to move into your home. Now, the next batch of content for Plukit's premier farming RPG is almost ready to kick off.

The Halloween Update will be adding a bunch of neat Halloween Masks for you to pop on your head. These will be craftable at the pumpkin carving table. If you happen to miss the season's festivities, worry not - they're going to be a permanent addition to the game's catalog. Spooky furniture options like a coffin and candles (as seen in our header image) are also being added to the game permanently in a similar fashion.

There aren't yet any details as to how they'll be acquired in-game, but there is a Halloween-esque festival in Fall already in Staxel so it's likely that they'll pop up around then. There's also the possibility of some kind of real-world timer coming into play (that is, you'll be able to get them for a few days or weeks around the real-world date of Halloween).

Aside from this teaser for the next update, Staxel is also now available for purchase on GOG thanks to the demand of some fans for a DRM-free version of the game. You'll still be able to play with friends who bought it via Steam, but obviously, you'll have to use a direct IP connection for the server as the GOG version won't come with the same kind of Steam server functionality.

If you don't yet already own Staxel, you can grab it for yourself on Steam, the Humble Store, and DRM-free on GOG for $19.99 or your regional equivalent.

Disclosure: Staxel is published by Humble Bundle, a company which TechRaptor has an affiliate partnership with. Humble Bundle & GOG work with TechRaptor for affiliate partnership, and TechRaptor earns a small commission off purchases made from links in this article. In addition, GOG provides a monthly giveaway to our Pack Hunter members.
