This week's State of the Game covers the first week of March. Compared to the last few weeks, which have all seen impressive stats due to large releases, this week is a relatively quiet affair. The average players in this week's games are about 1/6th of the month's average with the top game managing only 2,800. However this week's releases were played a lot more, the unplayed figure at 37% (average for big release weeks is around 50%) and the average achievement rate much higher. Considering the other non-PC releases that happened around this time these figures are strong, if not as impressive as other weeks.
Torment: Tides of Numenera, the Kickstarter backed RPG from inXile Entertainment takes out this week's top spot. Compared to other, similar releases its numbers are low, most likely due to it being in beta for quite some time. Backers have been able to access the beta since January last year and many would probably not want to revisit the game once it hit its 1.0 release. Past its release though it has managed to maintain relatively consistent numbers, something which most big titles struggle with post release.
Taking a look at the regional breakdown this week it's interesting to note the variation, especially for Asia and the Middle East. Both of these regions don't feature Tides of Numenera at all and only a couple of the top 5 overall. It's not unusual for the regional stats to be mixed in slower weeks but it's quite uncommon to see the top release missing completely. It would be interesting to see why Tides of Numenera didn't get much attention in those regions or why the other titles were that much more popular.
