Today on State of the Game we'll be covering all the releases on Steam for the week from the 24th to the 30th of July. The resurgence in new releases (and by extension their top level stats) continues unabated this week with the majority of them showing definite signs of improvement. Much like last week, there was no one big release that brought everything up, rather it was a large swath of smaller titles that helped boost everything up.

CItadel: Forged with Fire, which comes to us from veteran developer Blue Isle Studios (whose other titles include Slender: The Arrival and Valley) released into Early Access this week. Reviews on Steam are sitting at mixed currently and that seems to be reflected in some of the deeper stats. There does appear to be a steady stream of updates coming out for it however so it will be interesting to see how its stats continue to track over time. Crossout released to similar stats (even the mixed reviews!) but has managed to keep its release week stats consistent for the past 2 weeks.

I had expected Pyre, the latest from developer Supergiant Games, to do much better than it did in its opening week. To be sure, when compared to their previous games, the stats are much better as players are more likely to play longer and get more achievements. It's even the most highly rated out of this week's top 5 so it is surprising to see it sitting at number 5.

This week's trending section is also interesting as apart from a single sale the rest all made it in due to updates or mods. This week's trends weren't as great as previous weeks in terms of magnitude and that's likely due to this week's strong set of releases. That's set to continue for the next week or two so it will be interesting to see if that particular trend continues.
