Welcome to this week’s State of the Game! Today we’ll take a look at some stats for games that were released on Steam between the 20th and 26th of November. With most of the big releases of this year now behind us the downward trend of the last 2 weeks is likely to continue until early next year. However not all is lost as this means that we’ll begin to start seeing some interesting titles making their way into the trending top 5 as indeed we do this week. Let’s dive in.

Legion TD 2 is this week’s top “release”, making its debut on Steam’s Early Access program this week. Many will likely be familiar with the name as it was a very popular Warcraft III mod and, thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign early last year, the team behind it has been able to turn it into a full game. The devs are billing it as the first “competitive tower defense” game for PC so it will be interesting to see if it can develop its own competitive scene.

Without any major releases this week the regional charts are quite a mixed affair with none of the regions having the same top 3 games. Interestingly World of Final Fantasy managed to take out the top spot in most regions but still only managed 2 overall.

This week’s trending section’s top 2 come to us care of the Humble Store’s summer sale. Brutal Legend was free on the site for 2 days starting on November 20th and Sanctum 2 was free the day after. Content has also proven to be king yet again with Telltale’s Batman: The Enemy Within episode 3 and, to everyone’s surprise, an expansion release for the now 10 year old Titan Quest, pushing them up to number 3 and 4 this week respectively. Just goes to show that there’s always an audience for good content!
