Welcome to this week’s State of the Game where we’ll be covering the last full week of February. Additionally we’ve made a couple of changes to the infographic in order to give you a clearer picture of what these statistics mean. The first change is to the “Hours Spent Playing” section which now includes a 0 column, indicating the percentage of games that were bought and not played. Additionally the graph now uses a logarithmic scale which gives a bit more visibility to the lower end of the graph which is typically where a lot of the data lies. Hopefully, this makes the data a lot easier to understand but we’d still love to hear your feedback either way.

Somewhat predictably Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands beta took out the top spot, attracting quite a large player base. It’s interesting to note that 30% of the players that downloaded the beta didn’t play it which on the surface looks high. However this is pretty typical of open betas like this, with recent ones like For Honor and Steep having similar unplayed figures (as well as other core stats like the average played time). With the retail release already in full swing it will be interesting to compare the full version’s stats to the beta when the time comes.

Regional data is a pretty mixed bag this week, the top 5 being mostly the same across all regions with the order being switched up. Blackwake makes an appearance there due to it being an Early Access title which bumps up the hours played considerably. The trending section is dominated by sales which, whilst not unprecedented, isn’t as interesting as other weeks. Typically a bundle or Early Access update will sneak in there but it seems for this week that was not to be.

As always we’re keen to hear your feedback on the infographic, the changes or just what you thought of these week’s releases.
