This week in State of the Game we're covering mid-February and it appears that the regular release of big titles isn't going to slow down anytime soon. Top level stats are mostly up with the average completion down and the percentage of games bought and not played up as well.

As many would have predicted For Honor takes the top spot by a very wide margin, averaging an impressive 36,000 players in its opening week. It's worth noting here that this only accounts for current players as seen by Steam which is about half of For Honor's total PC player base. For Honor also manages to command some strong secondary stats as well with the average play time almost hitting 30 hours. Those numbers are still holding relatively well as well with For Honor still managing to draw about 14,000 players on average at the time of writing.

Looking at the regional data it's as you'd expect with a few big releases, the top 3 remaining largely the same across the board. Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force managed to squeeze in at number 3 in Asia which is not completely surprising given the game's roots.

This will be the first week where we were unable to determine exactly what the cause of a trend was for a particular game. Space Distant, a simple Space Invaders clone, managed to dramatically increase its playerbase during this week, seemingly without any help from free keys, bundles or sales. It did go on sale after this week but the impact of that sale pales in comparison to whatever was done before. For the moment all we can determine is that the trend upwards started on the 15th of February and fizzled out right before it went on sale.

If you know the reason why it might have gotten so popular all of sudden we're all ears!
