Stardew Valley Nintendo Switch multiplayer is almost here! Finally, you'll be able to play the game with your friends on Nintendo's hybrid handheld console.

For those not in the know, Stardew Valley is arguably the premier farming RPG that does a fine job of serving as the spiritual successor to Harvest Moon. It's on pretty much every modern electronic gaming device, but multiplayer functionality has only been available on the PC. That will be changing very soon.

A blog post from the game's developer ConcernedApe has announced that Stardew Valley Nintendo Switch multiplayer will be launching on December 13, 2018. Essentially, it will be launching with pretty much all of the features that we got with the PC version when it launched in July of this year. The new Night Market event, new items, and - of course - multiplayer functionality will all be added in this upcoming patch to the game.

The Stardew Valley Nintendo Switch multiplayer patch will also be adding some features unique to the console version. Players will be able to communicate with one another using Switch online voice chat or a new chat box feature with almost 200 custom emoji. If you don't have a Nintendo Switch Online Account, worry not - you'll be able to connect 2-4 consoles together and play with your friends locally.

With the upcoming release of Stardew Valley Nintendo Switch multiplayer, ConcernedApe will be turning his attention to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game. These are the next versions that are primed to get all of the delicious content that we saw in the 1.3 Patch on the PC. ConcernedApe has also put out a nice little teaser, stating that he'll have more to share with us "very soon" after the Nintendo Switch launch of this patch.

If you're keen on playing Stardew Valley for yourself, you can purchase Stardew Valley for the PC via Steamthe Humble Store, or GOG for $14.99 or your regional equivalent.  Console gamers can get it for the Nintendo SwitchXbox One, or PlayStation 4 at their respective storefronts and mobile gamers can get it for iDevices on iTunesStardew Valley Nintendo Switch multiplayer will launch on December 13, 2018.
