Stardew Valley has been approved for the Nintendo Switch according to a tweet from Chucklefish CEO Finn “Tiyuri” Brice.

The game originally launched for PC and was stated to be planned for console ports in May of 2016. It eventually made its way to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A version of the game was stated to be in development for the Nintendo Switch; this announcement came some time after a planned Wii U version of the game had been canceled. The decision was made due to “current gaming landscape” at the time, and Developer Erik “ConcernedApe” Barone believed that the console’s capabilities could provide interesting opportunities for gameplay.

The Nindies Showcase Nintendo Direct announced that the Nintendo Switch version of the game would be the first console edition to have the upcoming multiplayer component of the game. Developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone stated that he anticipated the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game would receive Multiplayer gameplay around a month later and the PC Version of the game would be getting it first. As for what the Multiplayer side of the game will entail, a blog post from Chucklefish in early August 2017 detailed the mechanics and features of the upcoming game mode.

Stardew Valley was announced to be a Nintendo Switch title in January of 2017. In other Switch news, Yooka-Laylee has had technical difficulties that have slowed down progress towards the Switch version of that game as well as some other indie titles making use of the popular Unity engine.
