Star Wars Celebration 2016 is currently underway in London, and although there's plenty of movie and television related news coming out from the celebration concerning Rogue OneEpisode 8, and Rebels, there is also plenty of gaming news from the show. Mainly the gaming focus has been on Star Wars: Battlefront, but Amy Hennig also came out during the show to talk a little bit about her upcoming untitled Star Wars game that she is working on over at the Visceral Games studio, the studio responsible for the Dead Space franchise. However, on top of all of this, it was also announced that a Star Wars experience has been crafted for the HTC Vive, and it's coming out very soon.

On the side of Star Wars: Battlefront, the focus at Star Wars Celebration has been mainly on DLC for the game. The game's season pass originally promised four DLC expansions for the game. Two of these expansions have already been released, the first focused on the Outer Rim, and the second taking place on Cloud City. The third piece of DLC was already confirmed to be Death Star related, but during Star Wars Celebration, a teaser trailer for this expansion was released. On top of this, it was also revealed which hero and villain would come with this expansion; Chewbacca and the bounty hunter Bossk. The Death Star expansion is due to come out sometime this Fall.

Check out the teaser trailer for the third expansion below:

While we've known what the first three expansions for Battlefront were going to be for quite some time now, the fourth and final piece of DLC was left shrouded in mystery, until now. It was formally announced at Star Wars Celebration that Rogue One would be the focus of the final DLC pack. This pack will bring players to the planet Scarif, the highly tropical and beachy planet that much of Rogue One apparently takes place on. The new heroes that will be coming along with the expansion are some of the new main characters being introduced into the franchise in Rogue One. The first new hero is Jyn Erso who you'll probably be able to identify from much of the Rogue One marketing as the protagonist of the upcoming anthology movie, and the playable villain is Director Krennic, and although less recognizable, he did make an appearance in the first trailer for Rogue One. Expect this Rogue One tie-in to come out sometime this holiday season.

Yeah, I didn't know who Director Krennic was either, so here's what he looks like.

Meanwhile, Amy Hennig was dropping some clues concerning the Star Wars game that she is currently working on over at Visceral Games. Hennig described the creative process she uses when dealing with this Star Wars game is very similar to the one she used when working on previous games in the Uncharted series. For those that don't know, Hennig was the creator of the Uncharted series, but left Naughty Dog while working on Uncharted 4: A Thief's End for the chance to work on a Star Wars game.

Another key point that Hennig stressed was that she wants this game to feel like playing through a Star Wars movie.

The end goal with a game like that is by the time the player has finished playing the game, they feel like they really played a Star Wars film.

This untitled Star Wars game, rumored to be an open-world RPG, is expected to come out sometime during 2018. Hennig also stated that we can expect that Visceral will go silent for a while after Star Wars Celebration, but that they will hopefully have some video of the game released to the public next year. Meanwhile, here's a newly released image from the game, however it is unclear if this is a screenshot or concept art:

The last piece of game related news to come out of Star Wars Celebration 2016 was VR related. A new Star Wars VR experience will be available for free for HTC Vive owners starting on July 18th of this year. The experience goes by the name Trials on Tatooine. This is a first-person experience that puts the player in the shoes of Luke's Jedi apprentice following the events of  Return of the Jedi. You can expect some lightsaber combat, but don't expect a full game, just a short experience.
