Electronic Arts will re-release the Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate Edition, ahead of the release of the new film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, according to listings posted by Amazon.

The Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate Edition includes the Deluxe Edition of the game and the Season Pass for $39.99, a $100 drop from its launch price and a lower price than the Season Pass alone, which retails for $49.99. The game includes exclusive emotes, instant access to weapons such as the DL-44 blaster, Outer Rim, Bespin, and Death Star expansion packs, plus the Rogue One: Scarif expansion pack, which currently does not have a release date.

The game is currently set for re-release on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, according to Amazon. While listings are currently unavailable, it is likely that the PC version will receive a similar price drop. In the UK, the Ultimate Edition will be limited to digital storefronts, according to VideoGamer. It is unknown if EA will also be dropping the price of the Season Pass in light of this re-release.

Star Wars Battlefront has been the subject of controversy in the past regarding its price. The content in the standalone game was described as "razor thin," with the cost of the Season Pass being too hefty for some to justify purchasing. The game's server population has also been on a downward trend since release, especially on PC. DICE has been making efforts to appease player concerns through patches and free content.

However, the price point of Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate Edition offers a lower cost of entry compared to Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2, EA's other shooters for the holiday season. Both games will retail for $59.99, with Battlefield 1 sporting a $50 season pass of its own, while Titanfall 2's DLC will be free.

If you are wanting to pick it up, you can pre-order it through our Amazon Affiliate for PlayStation 4, or Xbox One.

Quick Take

While this is a great price to pay for the full Battlefront experience, it is still too little too late on EA's part. Even with the Season Pass, the game is severely lacking content, especially compared to past Battlefront games. As most critics have said, the price of the Season Pass was too much for an expansion pack every three months. The fact that this re-release costs less than the Season Pass is just going to make current owners angry. I have a bad feeling about this.
