If you've been waiting for the opportune moment to try out DICE's reboot of Star Wars Battlefront but you didn't want to lay down too much money for an experience many fans of the older games describe as lackluster, then now is your time to play the game at a reduced price. Starting December 13, subscribers of EA Access (Xbox One) and Origin Access (PC) subscription service. This service gives you access to a vault of games for a monthly or yearly fee
This is yet another high-profile release that has made it to the subscription services, which costs subscribers a monthly fee of $4.99 or $29.99 for the year. Recently, games like Mirror's Edge Catalyst and the modern Need for Speed reboot have been added to the vault of games subscribers can play as long as they're subscribed to the service. Subscribers also get an additional 10% off any purchases made from Electronic Arts' Origin Store or the digital store on Xbox One in addition to early access trial versions of upcoming games. Note that the version subscribers are getting is the vanilla service without any of the season pass content. There is, however, an Ultimate Edition available which includes the base game plus all the season pass content which could explain why the game is being added to the vault.
Star Wars Battlefront released in late 2015 to lukewarm reviews (ours can be found right here) critics criticizing the game's lack of meaningful progression while applauding the game for its outstanding graphical fidelity that managed to emulate the look and feel of a Star Wars film perfectly. Back in February, we reported that the game was struggling with maintaining an active user base on PC (it still is, according to BattlefrontStats) as well as on consoles, albeit to a lesser degree. This might be one of the reasons why Electronic Arts have decided to add it to the Vault on their EA Access and Origin Access service which should make the game more attractive to players due to the benefits of the service, mainly the library of other games available to subscribers in addition to Star Wars Battlefront.

Quick Take
While I certainly think this game is fun, I have to agree with the critics saying that the lack of depth doesn't do the game any favors. Regardless, I'll still be playing this game when it gets added to the vault because I'm a subscriber to the service and the PlayStation 4 isn't a system I like to play shooters on.
