Star Wars Celebration is just wrapping up in London, but during the event, we learned more about some of the more long-term plans for Star Wars Battlefront. However, before the event even started we learned that there are some more immediate changes coming to Battlefront, mainly the addition of an offline mode. It's been eight months since the game's release, and it seems like it is still receiving a healthy flow of support and content from the developers over at DICE.

The new offline game mode goes by the name of Skirmish, and is a lot like the game's multiplayer, with it essentially being a bot-match mode. Skirmish includes two of the game modes available online; Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron. For those that don't know, Walker Assault is a game mode that has you either help escort an AT-AT to an end point on offense, or try to destroy the AT-AT(s) if on defense. Fighter Squadron is completely aerial based and has you dogfighting in the skies in classic Star Wars starfighters like the X-wing and TIE fighter. Skirmish also allows for split screen co-op on consoles. You can choose from a variety of different difficulties to play in Skirmish, however, the announcement didn't specify how many or which ones. The new game mode comes to Star Wars Battlefront on July 21st of this year.

Besides this new free addition to the game, there is still plenty more coming to Star Wars Battlefront. In September, the third expansion for Battlefront is being released, and it focuses entirely on the Death Star. This expansion will include news maps, weapons, and the two new playable heroes Chewbacca and the bounty hunter Bossk. And now, thanks to Star Wars Celebration 2016, we now know what the fourth and final expansion for the game will entail. The last expansion for the game will include Rogue One related content with maps coming from the brand new planet Scarif recognizable from the first trailer for Rogue One.
