Square Enix and Human Head Studio's weird FMV/Brawler game The Quiet Man launches digitally November 1st on PlayStation 4 and Steam for $14.99.

Players take the role of deaf protagonist Dane as he fights his way to discover the motives behind the kidnapping of songstress Lala by a mysterious masked man. The game takes place over the course of one night and is described as "immersive story-driven cinematic action experience, which can be completed in one sitting". The Quiet Man is partly live-action FMV but will switch to regular game graphics.

It plays on heavily on the fact that the protagonist is deaf and is intended to be a mostly soundless experience. The Steam page describes it as featuring “very little distinct audio and no subtitles”.

Human Head Studios haven't had anything in the way of a real hit in a while, especially since Prey 2 was canceled a few years ago. Here's hoping this generates some noise for them. It certainly seems quite interesting.

From November 1 to 15, those who purchase from the PSN store will receive the base game, a dynamic theme, and a set of eight PSN avatars. During the same period, those who purchase from Steam will receive the base game, as well as a set of seven desktop and mobile wallpapers. In addition, those who purchase within this period on either platform will receive a 10% discount.

Quick Take

The Quiet Man looks interesting and I certainly love some quality FMV nonsense, but I heard some less-than-promising things coming out of PAX West. The game was described as mushy, bizarre, and hard to follow, but hopefully the developers have had some time to refine some things since then.
