The Square Enix Live conference began with a musical countdown to the big reveals of the day.

The night opened with one of the most anticipated launches of the conference: Final Fantasy VII Remake. The game's producer, Yoshinori Kitase, came on stage to say a few words about the remake of the classic game. After twenty-two years, the famous characters have returned with stunning new visuals for fans old and new. There is an anticipated two Blu-ray discs worth of content. The combat system integrates real-time action with tactical combat. Once an ATB bar is full, the tactical mode engages and slows down time, switching the battle to the tactical mode fans of the original are familiar with. Players can rotate through party members with a single button press, allowing for flexible combat. Abilities can be bound to shortcuts for fast-paced battle action.

Continuing the Final Fantasy VII hype, viewers were treated to a battle sequence with Cloud and Barret taking down a formidable mech enemy, who prior players may remember as the first boss of the game. It was a great showing of how the open action and tactics can work together in combat. The director of Final Fantasy VII Remake, Tetsuya Nomura, joined the stage and extended his gratitude to those fans who have long-supported Final Fantasy VII. The presentation wrapped with an extended trailer for the upcoming title, including battles with Tifa and Aerith and an appearance from the iconic villain Sephiroth. Final Fantasy VII Remake will be available March 3, 2020. Along with the regular edition, there will be a deluxe edition and a First Class Edition, which includes a Play Arts Kai Cloud Strife and Hardy Daytona box set, among other wonderfully collectible content. Check it out below!
