Square Enix's The Quiet Man was a new title that we got to see very little about in terms of substance.

A young man walked up on a trio of gangsters while holding a paper bag. They antagonized him, only for him to respond with a gesture indicating that he was deaf. Before any of the hoodlums knew what was going on, one of them was laid out on the ground. Going by the tagline of "Silence Rings Loudest", our hero had an air of being a stoic badass about him. Take a look at the trailer for yourself  and see what you can make of it:

The trailer seems to have a solid transition from live-action video to gameplay. A press release from Square Enix does say that this will be an "immersive story-driven cinematic action experience". The transitions from live action to in-game are not just a neat effect used for the trailer, either - this is how the game is going to actually play out. This sort of thing has been attempted before, but it seems that The Quiet Man doesn't do a half bad job of executing the blending of cinematic footage and in-engine stuff.

The game seems to be set in New York City, although from my own experience it needs about five times as many people as we see in the trailer for a more accurate portrayal. Other than a New York City setting and the apparent deafness of our protagonist, we don't have much more to go on for this particular game. Whatever it may be, it does seem like it's heading in an interesting direction to say the least. The Quiet Man will be coming out for the PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam sometime in the future. We'll find out more about the game in August of this year.

What do you think The Quiet Man is all about? Does the idea of a deaf protagonist appeal to you? What do you hope to see from the game? Let us know in the comments below! If you want to know more about this and other announcements happening at E3 then be sure to check out our E3 2018 Coverage Hub.
