Square Enix E3 2018: Press Conference Recap

Square Enix's E3 2018 Press Conference started off our day today. After seeing so much from the publisher yesterday many weren't sure and while there was some repeated content for Square Enix also managed to announce two upcoming titles and show off a bit more of games that fans are looking forward to.

Beginning the conference on a high note a new trailer was shown for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. In this scene we see Lara, once again, crashing a vehicle on a mysterious island. This trailer was the beginning of the game and will have Lara stopping a Mayan apocalypse. She will once again be up against Trinity and Lara will have to use the jungle to survive, what this means exactly though is detailed to us through a new trailer. We see Lara using the jungle and what she's gathered to stealthily dispatch of multiple hostile operatives. Grappling, wall-running, and full underwater swimming will also be included as well as the largest hub world. A final trailer was then shown for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. 

Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood expansion is next with a trailer showing off some of the boss fights and locations from the expansion. The 4.3 patch will be called under the moonlight. Monster Hunter: World and Final Fantasy XIV will be pairing up in Summer 2018 as the Rathalos appears in FFXIV.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit is up next with two members of DONTNOD explaining how this game will relate to Season 2 of Life is Strange including some links to entice players. As announced yesterday this game will be releasing for free on June 26th.

The next Dragon Quest title is shown detailing a new dark force taking over the world and the call to arms that the protagonist has to answer. With an emphasis on a sword obtained the protagonist seems to gain the ability to fight back the darkness. By obtaining the light you'll be able to seal away the darkness, face your fate. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age will be coming on September 4th. There will also be a crossover event with Brave Exvius.

Square Enix next showed a trailer for their upcoming title Babylon's Fall. This game is being developed for PS4 and Steam by Platinum games and will release in 2019.

After the new title announcement, we got to once again see footage from NieR: Automata BECOME AS GODS edition releasing for Xbox One on June 26th.

For Nintendo Switch a new trailer is shown for Octopath Traveller. Showing off all of the different character types we see the world traversal as well as some battles.

Just Cause 4 was up next showing off the changes that Rico has going on, working in a new South American country of Solis there will be all kinds of new experiences for you to face. Extreme weather will be introduced in this game including sandstorms, blizzards, tornadoes, and massive forked lightning in a thunderstorm. There will be new vehicles and the system has been revamped for better handling. The grapple is more intuitive allowing you to do more as well as give you boosters to an airlift modification. This game will release on December 4th.

the quiet man square enix e3 2018

A new trailer is shown for a game called The Quiet Man with more info coming in August. From what we can gather of the trailer you play as a character who is deaf and has a penchant for taking out street thugs. This title will be for PS4 and Steam.

For what many fans have been looking forward to Kingdom Hearts III is up next showing off the trailer that was shown at Microsoft's E3 press conference with some additional scenes. These scenes allude to a way Ienzo, a former member of Organization XIII now returned to human form, could attempt to recreate Roxas from his digital information stored in fake Twilight Town and there is also an end scene of Lea and Kairi looking out over a lush field.
