Described as "Agar.io with Souls-Like ARPG combat", All For One has hit Open Beta on Steam, which lasts from November 29 to December 4. ALU Interactive, the developer, has been working on this title for the past year. Below is their explanation for the beta:
The primary purpose of this test is to see how well our servers can run on full load over an extended duration, but we do hope we can get feedback on any bugs and suggestions on what features we should prioritize.
Basically, All For One is a game where players are dropped into a world and fight each other with a "Souls-Like" combat system. When a player defeats another player, they get all of their accumulated XP (experience) the defeated player has acquired up to that point. With the acquired XP, players can level up their character and upgrade their weapons, armor, and spell arsenal at any time.
The Open Beta is free, although it's only available for a few days. Be sure to check it out if you are interested in the genre. All For One is only just over 1GB to download, too, so no need to worry about space.
Quick Take:
I really like the idea of this. Some titles have an uphill battle immediately upon announcement, but if ALU Interactive plays their cards right (and develops a decent game) I think they might be onto something. The Dark Souls community has been PvP'ing for years, so to release a game that focuses on that aspect seems like a no-brainer. With a whole bunch of games to play but not necessarily releasing at this point of the year, it's a really good move to attract interest in their title. Who knows if it's any good, but I'll certainly be checking it out.
