Killzone 2 but better

Sony has announced that it will be shutting down online servers for seven PlayStation 3 games, a PlayStation Vita game, and an iOS/Android game.

The biggest two games hit in this move are PlayStation 3 first-person shooters Killzone 2 and Killzone 3. Killzone 2 was originally launched on February 27th, 2009, while Killzone 3 came out nearly two years later. Both games were commercial and critical successes, and their multiplayer was praised due to the way it would constantly change objectives mid-round. The series did continue to the PlayStation 4 with Killzone Shadow Fall, and that game's multiplayer will still be remaining up for the time being.

The Wipeout series is also being hit by this. PlayStation 3 titles Wipeout HD and Wipeout HD Fury, along with PlayStation Vita's Wipeout 2048, will also be shut down. All three games have been bundled together and rereleased on the PlayStation 4 under the title Wipeout Omega Collection. The online for that game is not affected by this, so you at least won't be losing these games forever for online play, as long as you buy it on PlayStation 4.

The third series being hit by this shutdown is the EyePet series, with PlayStation 3 games EyePet, EyePet Move Edition, and EyePet & Friends also all having their online modes shut off. The game let you raise virtual pets using the camera, letting them interact with the environment around them and to your actions. The game allowed you to share your pets with your friends, but now it seems like your pet will have no friends.

Finally, the online mode for iOS/Android match-3 game Knack's Quest will also be taken down. Knack's Quest was a free to play game that allowed you to earn items and transfer them to Knack. Once the game's online is shut down you will no longer be able to send items over.

All of the games mentioned here will have their online modes shut down on March 29th, 2018. So make sure you get in any last rounds before they do.
