Today at Sony’s E3 Conference, we have now finally been given a release date for the long awaited adventure title, The Last Guardian

Presented in a brand new gameplay trailer (above), The Last Guardian will now launch on October 25th for the PlayStation 4. In addition to the release date, the trailer showed off some more gameplay footage of the games world. Along with providing us footage into the little boy’s close relationship with the guardian monster, the trailer also highlights some of the enemies that you will face on your journey.

Since 2007 The Last Guardian has been in development limbo. While it was initially meant to launch back on the PlayStation 3, the project unfortunately stumbled across some complications. With developers reporting to have left the studio, one of the most prominent concerns was that the PlayStation 3 lacked the much needed hardware capabilities in running this title.

After years of no updates and Sony forgetting to renew The Last Guardian trademark, for a while it seemed that the project was abandoned. However in E3 2015, The Last Guardian was reintroduced by President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, Shawn Layden. With The Last Guardian back in the public eye, eager/patient fans were not only treated with all new gameplay footage, but also a proper release window.

The Last Guardian is the third game to be made by Team Ico, the same development studio behind Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

We will continue to update this article once we receive more news.
