Sega recently hosted a Sonic panel at SXSW Gaming in which they announced a tonne of new projects and teases related to everyone's favorite hedgehog. First up, Sonic Mania Plus was revealed, a physical edition of last year's Sonic Mania game. It's not just a repackage though, with the physical edition featuring two new playable characters in Ray and Mighty, a new Encore Mode and four-player Competition Mode. All of this comes packaged in a holographic case along with a 32-page art book and more. Sonic Mania Plus will release some time in Summer 2018 and will cost $29.99.

This wasn't the only new Sonic news revealed during the panel however with a new run of animated Sonic Adventures planned for this year. A brief peek at the five-episode run was shown off, with Sonic racing off to stop Doctor Eggman as he kidnaps the world's wildlife.

Next up was a collaboration between Sega and Puma, who will be releasing exclusive Sonic-themed shoes. The PUMA x SEGA RS-0 Sonic (try saying that five times fast) shoes will launch June 2018.

Lastly, the panel concluded with a tease at what appears to be a new Sonic Racing game of some sort. The short teaser, which you can watch below, shows distorted images of several vehicles before throwing up what is pretty clearly a blacked-out Sonic Racing logo, with only the R shown in full. The last Sonic Racing game, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, released back in 2012 and saw Sonic and a host of other Sega characters including Alex Kidd and Gilius Thunderhead. No further details were given on the possible Sonic Racing game, only that it has appeared on the Sonic Twitter account labeled as "[TOP SECRET]". It was also stated that this is not a sequel to any other work, so it won't be a sequel to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed though what that means for this overall remains to be seen.
