Songbringer, a sci-fi action RPG developed by one-man studio Wizard Fu Games, will be coming to the PlayStation 4 as a digital download on September 5, 2017, according to a post on the PlayStation Blog.

Players take on the role of Roq,  an intergalactic surveyor on the spaceship Songbringer which is tasked with exploring the galaxy and visiting uncharted planets. Roq awakens next to the smoldering ruins of his hoverbike with no shirt and his robot companion Jib by his side, unsure of what happened. Upon picking up an ancient sword, he unwittingly awakens an ancient army of evil beings.  A gameplay trailer accompanied the announcement of the release date:

The layout of the planet is created from a word seed comprised of six letters that will determine the nature of the overworld map as well as the dungeons within it. Players can dive into dungeons and utilize real-time combat with seven different weapons in the course of their gameplay. If you have a friend you’d like to bring along, a second local player can help you out by taking control of your robot companion Jib.

As with many Action RPGs, there will be hundreds of items and power-ups along with an item crafting system. Of course, there will be plenty of secrets to uncover including the classic bombable walls (as well as a number of other secret passages of varying designs). Dedicated players can compete to be the best in the game’s online leaderboards, and the truly hardcore can take a crack at the optional Permadeath mode if they feel so inclined.

Songbringer will be available on PlayStation 4 on September 5, 2017. And if you don’t own a PlayStation 4, you can grab a copy on Steam on September 1.

What do you think of Songbringer? Will you be picking up a copy of the game for yourself on either PlayStation 4 or PC? Let us know in the comments below!
