Hidetaka Miyazaki, creator of the Souls series and current president of the development studio From Software, recently gave an interview with GNN Gamer and opened up about some of the future projects the studio is currently working on. From Dark Souls III DLC to a possible new IP, there’s plenty to break down from the interview.

First, Dark Souls III DLC. Now, if you read the interview from GNN Gamer translated using Google Translate, it seems as though Miyazaki is claiming there will be three expansions for the game. However, according to a thread from NeoGAFF, this is an error in the translation and Miyazaki has only confirmed two expansions for Dark Souls III which would fit the information we've previously had on Dark Souls III DLC. The first substantial DLC expansion planned will be coming out fall of 2016, and the second one will drop early 2017.  He did not offer any details as to what the DLC will include. The next piece of news Miyazaki dropped was that From Software does not plan on developing any sequels for any of their Souls series games anytime in the near future, and this includes the Bloodborne and Demon Souls titles, including spin-offs, remakes and tie-ins too.  When asked about the possibility of a sequel for the Souls series, the rough translation of his response according to the NeoGAFF thread was

Dark Souls 3 will be have several DLCs like previous games. But there’s absolutely no plan right now for any sequels, spin-offs or tie-ins. But I can’t say for certain the possibility is 0%.
However, it seems this response relates only to Miyazaki’s team at From Software. The studio’s B team, developers of Dark Souls II, could still possibly be making a sequel or spin-off, but Miyazaki himself seems to be done with the series, at least for the time being. There have been rumors of a Demon Souls remake in the past, but this interview seems to have put down any of these rumors for now. However, when asked about a possible Arma Core sequel, he said that personally, he would like to do it, but couldn’t reveal anything at the moment.

Miyazaki’s team is instead working on a new IP from From Software. According to Miyazaki, development of the new IP has already begun. The project is most likely in the very beginning stages of development, so don’t expect any details on it for a while.
