Today Artem Fedyaev and John Gonzalez, co-founders of the web-based discovery platform myWebRoom announced a new social experience for VR that they are calling myVR. While the majority of VR experiences available nowadays revolve around games or visual experiences myVR is meant to be a social experience that you can not only do alone but can share with your friends.

In myVR, you are able to create a "room" that will allow you to view media, read articles, and listen to music. The information that you see in your room you can either explore and see what is recommended or you are able to tailor your experience to what you'd like to learn more about. For example, if you wanted to stay up to date with all the latest video game news you would include the "Games" category in your room, selecting it you would see all the latest news revolving around gaming. If you were excited for a game in particular though you could mark a filter and only see news related to that title. From there you're able to save or share that content. In total, there are 21 different interest feeds including travel, sports, DIY, and food. You can also add and remove different sources to tailor the experience further to yourself.

The current virtual reality market is focused heavily on games and 360 degree videos, so the majority of people who are using VR right now are gamers and early adopters, the goal of myVR is to bring virtual reality to a wider, more mainstream audience that wants a broader range of virtual experiences.

myVR will be launched for free for Google Cardboard and the GearVR in October. The app will allow you to follow anyone else who also uses the app and interact with them in their rooms. This includes simultaneous viewing of web, videos, and music all while being able to hold a group voice chat at the same time.
