Skybound Games has released some information on Episodes 3 and 4 of what was once Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season.

The US-based company, which was originally founded by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, is currently working on the final season of The Walking Dead after original developer Telltale Games closed its doors back in September. The fate of the final season of The Walking Dead was in limbo after Telltale's closure meant the game could no longer be worked on, leaving Episodes 3 and 4 without a release date.

In a news post on its official website, Skybound says it's resuming development on the final two episodes. The company has hired a number of the original Telltale staffers who worked on The Walking Dead, and they're working to make sure the final two episodes of The Walking Dead: The Final Season are finished. Skybound doesn't have a concrete release date for the episodes yet, but they've promised to announce said dates "soon". The company also guarantees that if you've previously paid for Season Four, you won't need to pay again, with future episodes available for download as soon as they're released via the original point of purchase.

In addition, Skybound has warned its customers that it might not be possible to purchase previous seasons of The Walking Dead "while [they] transition". They're working to have everything The Walking Dead-related back online ASAP. None of Telltale's other properties appear to be affected by the switchover, so you can still purchase games like The Wolf Among Us and Minecraft: Story Mode with no issues.

Telltale's original The Walking Dead adventure game was released episodically back in 2012. Further "seasons" followed in 2013 and 2016, and Season 4 was planned for a 2018 release until Telltale began to report severe financial difficulties. The company's closure was mired in scandal, and several of its products have been delisted from Steam in preparation for the upcoming assignment process (it's similar to bankruptcy but without the protections). Skybound Games is currently working on The Walking Dead: The Final Season, while Netflix is looking into other options for the Stranger Things game on which Telltale was working.
