Welcome to Shoestring Gaming the weekly article where we search for some great deals on some great games just for you! This week we take a look at a couple of unconventional games from Steam and GOG, a great remake of a classic game from TechRaptor’s GameFanShop and also highlight some new free games for Xbox One owners.

Octodad

Just a normal picture of a normal guy lovingly looking at his family, why would anyone want to hurt him?

First up, as we dip our toe into the weird end, is 67% off Octodad: Dadliest CatchIn Octodad you play as a normal father of two wonderful children with a beautiful wife who suddenly begins being pursued by a crazy chef who wants to catch and eat him… for some reason. You will need to master the difficult controls and physics of this game as you slowly but surely walk, climb and flop through Octodad: Dadliest Catch. If you think controlling this crazy dad isn’t a difficult enough job, then, using controllers, you can have not only one friend join in on the fun and control half of Octodad but three other friends and give a limb to each.

Hatoful Boyfriend

Finally you can live out your dreams of loving a pigeon, just do me a favor and don’t mention pudding….

The second weird but wonderful games that is on sale this week is the popular Hatoful Boyfriend which is 70% off over at GoG. Hatoful Boyfriend tells the tale of a future where, in an attempt to combat a new bird flu, they instead of creating a way to wipe out the birds and the virus, the birds became super smart. You play as a girl who just transferred to St Pidgeonation Academy, a high school for birds, looking forward to a year of classes where you meet a whole flock of different birds. It’s up to you to decide and woo one of your bird classmates, or even teachers, to see what kind of a life a simple girl with a love for a pigeon is like. If you manage to get all of the endings from the regular game then there is even a secret after story for you to enjoy.

Ducktales

Master the ways of the pogo as you take Scrooge through all of these fun and crazy levels

Starting on April 3rd over at the TechRaptor GameFanShop you will be able to pick up Ducktales Remastered for 50% off. Ducktales Remastered, is as the name states, a remastering of the original Ducktales game released for the NES in 1989. This game brings back the same original play style but also adds remastered graphics and a new soundtrack based on the original but brought into the new age. Best of all, the new location of Scrooge’s money vault allows players to see how much wealth they have accumulated and even take a swim in it.

Neverwinter

Create your character and jump into the immersive world of Neverwinter!

Lastly, a couple of free games have been released for the Xbox One that are too good to not jump on. First up is a stand alone expansion to Forza Horizon 2 called Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & the Furious allowing you to race around Nice, France collecting cars from the movies and participating in Fast & the Furious themed events. This game will be available for free until the 10th of April and is on the Xbox One as well as the Xbox 360. The second free game that just released on the Xbox One is Dungeons and Dragons: Neverwinter, the popular D&D MMO that was originally released on the PC back in 2013. Now you can enjoy this free to play MMO on Xbox making it the first MMORPG for the console.

What do you all think of this weeks sales? Are there any big ones that I have missed? Are you planning on getting any of these games?

I have been playing all kinds of games for as long as I can remember with a particular interest in action adventure and platforming titles. While I am primarily an Xbox gamer I also spend a fair bit of time on the PS4 and on my PC in VR.
