Shin Megami Tensei 4 reaches Europe

Atlus has announced that finally, Shin Megami Tensei 4 is going to make its way to regions of the world that had previous been lacking in its grace. In all Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and Africa will be able to buy the game at the Nintendo eShop as a downloadable title only on October 30th.

Luckily for everyone, Atlus has decided that because the game is being released more than a year after it was in North America, that they should sensibly charge a lower price. It will cost €19.99 or £17.99, presumably depending where exactly you are.

Shin Megami Tensei 4 follows the story of a group of Samurai in the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado, a place where people are divided into two casts the wealthy and powerful Luxurors, or the poor labour ridden Casulries with a classic eastern feel to it. A third group, a powerful group with warriors who watch all, is the Samurai who can come from either class and discard their old life behind them. The plot begins here, as the main character (unnamed protagonist) goes through the Gauntlet ceremony and is picked as a Samurai and brought into a time of trouble that is afflicting the Eastern Kingdom, though few know how much there is to it.

Featuring traditional Shin Megami Tensei style play, you can negotiate with demons to recruit them to your party, in addition to getting quests or using other abilities with them. The Demon Fusion system is back and like some of the newer SMT titles it has added the anti-frustration feature of allowing you to choose the skills your demon inherits. The Press Battle system is back as well with few tweaks to it and make for strategic play in figuring out your enemies weaknesses and protecting your own.

Shin Megami Tensei 4 features several plot twists and integrates the player’s choices into how the game progresses. While there are not a ton of them, there are several major ones and they impact how the game comes to a conclusion with great differences in it.

For those outside of Europe, Australia, New Zealend, Middle East, and Africa (perhaps… just those in North America and Japan…) you can buy Shin Megami Tensei 4 at Amazon or of course at the Nintendo eShop.
