It's time to grab your classiest deerstalker, whisk your best doctor friend away from his fiance and once more take to the streets of Victorian London in a new detective game about the legendary English detective!

Frogwares Game Development have officially announced Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter's release after the official trailer reveal late last year. the eighth installment in the long-running Sherlock Holmes game series. Players will go on an investigation as they try to untangle an intricate web of conspiracies in London's seedy underbelly. Expect a storyline that will test Sherlock Holmes' composure to the limit, with the developer promising an "immersive experience unlike any other". This is also the first time Frogwares Game Development has teamed up with Bigben Interactive, opting again to having their games published by an established publisher instead of publishing the game themselves.

The game boasts a substantial number of new mechanics and features, as detailed in an interview Adventure Corner had with game director Waël Amr:

Amr: We have around 90 puzzles in the game, and a lot of new game mechanics, including more dynamic and active sequences. Some could tell confidently that 'Sherlock Holmes: Devil's Daughter' is an action - adventure game. However stickers are dangerous to use, so I'd rather say it's an AAA adventure game.

We've put a ton of new features into 'Sherlock Holmes: Devil's Daughter'. Moreover, for the first time we gave players the possibility to fail some parts of the investigation, which wasn't possible in our previous games.

The developer has also released the game's box art, and it's looking rather nice!

The Sherlock Holmes franchise has been going on for a while now. The first installment in the series, titled Sherlock Holmes: The Mystery of the Mummy, came out in 2002, with a new installment coming out every few years. They've also had a new competitor join the scene in the form of Agatha Christie - The ABC Murderswhich is another investigative adventure game based on an English novel.

The adventure, which has you freely explore and investigate several London neighborhoods as you solve crimes written specifically for the game, will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows PC's on May 27th.

I've been playing games since I was just barely able to walk so I might as well write about them.
