Following nearly two decades in development hell, the highly-anticipated cult classic Shenmue III  finally has a release date according to publisher Deep Silver - August 27, 2019.

Shenmue is a game that first graced home gaming consoles almost twenty years ago. The game (and its sequels) tell the tale of martial artist Ryo Hazuki who is on a quest to avenge his father's death and find a mysterious artifact called the Dragon Mirror. The game was noted for an interesting mix of different gameplay mechanics and arguably served as the title which introduced quick-time events to the world (for good or ill.)

Shenmue was intended as a trilogy, but only the first two games ever ended up being released. That will change in just over a year once Shenmue III is released to the world. A trailer was released alongside this announcement to build up a bit of hype for this long-awaited game - give it a look!

We don't yet know what the plot of the game will entail, other than the fact that it will be a continuation of the events from the first two games. HD Collections of Shenmue I & II were rumored to be making their way to modern systems not too long ago - a rumor that was eventually confirmedShenmue III was born from a Kickstarter that recently passed $7 million in funding hitting the stretch goal for what they are calling 'AI battling'. Early PC specs for the third game in the series have been released, although they are subject to change depending on development.
